About Us
Maeying Huamjai Phattana (MHP), is a non-profit association (or NPA) organization that is registered under the decree on associations (No 115/PM, dated April 29th 2009 and update on 238 decree on July 2020). With improved livelihoods for women as the starting point, MHP emphasizes women’s empowerment, access to resources, improved nutrition, women’s and children’s rights and organizational learning in its programs. MHP seeks to build the capacity of the people, and poor women in rural areas in particular, so that they have a higher quality of life, in which they can take control of their destiny in sustainable ways.
MHP is based in Bokeo province, which is situated in the Golden Triangle bordering Thailand and Myanmar. There are five districts in the province, and MHP works in all of them. Like other Northern Provinces in Laos, Bokeo is mountainous and has a high population of ethnic minorities, including Hmong, Khmu, Akha and Lahu.
Vision
MHP aspires to be an independent and effective association, which is able to develop communities to be ‘complete’, having education, peace, justice, equal opportunities for women and men, and respect for their culture. Benefits will be gained in participatory ways, which ensures balance in the community and the local environment.
